Rohrig Commended at Master Builders Awards

We are thrilled to announce that three of our recent projects took out construction gongs at the prestigious Master Builders Awards, hosted by Master Builders Queensland. The first two at the Brisbane awards ceremony held at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre last month.

This night of nights for the local building industry celebrates exceptional craftsmanship and innovative design across residential and commercial construction around Brisbane, as the River City continues to up the ante.

The Rohrig team were overjoyed to learn that the Camp Hill Hotel took out the award for Tourism and Leisure Facilities up to $10 million, while The Brook Hotel also took the trophy for Retail Facilities over $5 million.

Our work on the Camp Hill Hotel involved a top-to-bottom refurbishment of the 40-year-old tavern, as well as an extension of the venue’s facilities, alongside client ALH Group and architects Cayas & Ward. The refurbishment transformed the once-thriving venue into a contemporary icon, retaining rustic elements like exposed beams while elevating the tavern with a light-filled bistro, engaging sports bar and moody midnight-themed cocktail bar.

“This project was challenging but one we thoroughly enjoyed. We worked to retain the site’s original charm also taking it into the future as one of Brisbane’s premiere tavern’s,” said Rohrig Construction Manager, Ben Dyhrberg.

“We are honoured to have been acknowledged for this project at the prestigious Brisbane Master Builders Awards.”

Of course, we were equally excited to see The Brook Hotel acknowledged on the night. The $30+ million development was the largest project undertaken by ALH Group at the time, entrusted upon Rohrig as hospitality leaders. Cayas & Ward designed the incredible precinct, which includes The Brook Hotel, adjacent Nightcap Plus hotel, and even a Dan Murphy’s store.

Construction of the 25,000sqm project was an enormous undertaking, but one perfectly suited to our hospitality expertise. The long standing original existing building maintained its operations for the duration of The Brook Hotel construction, offering a rejuvenated and iconic world-class pub experience for patrons. The open-plan layout blends indoor and outdoor areas, with a stunning 60-year-old Moreton Bay Fig forming the centrepiece of the inspiring beer garden.

“The Brook Hotel sets a new standard for Brisbane pubs and shows the hidden potential that lies in so many suburban venues. Our ability to collaborate with clients and architects alike to showcase our hospitality fineness is always fulfilling,” said Rohrig Construction Manager, Matthew Tucker.

“We don’t embark on projects like this for the recognition, but to be awarded by Master Builders Queensland is always a special feeling.”

The Brook Hotel was also recently crowned ‘Best Redeveloped Hotel – Accommodation Division’ QHA Awards, putting the multi-award winning hotel on the map as one of Brisbane’s top lifestyle destinations.

Shortly after the Brisbane Master Builders Awards, Rohrig was again called to the stage at the Gold Coast Housing & Construction Awards.

Our Monash IVF project at Southport took out the award for Health Facilities up to $20 million on the night, alongside countless other world-class buildings within the booming Gold Coast region.

The cutting-edge clinic now houses the Monash IVF, Broadwater Private Day Hospital and the Centre of Reproductive Medicine and Surgery. The project involved a complete transformation of an existing two-level office building, which involved extensive structural enhancements, an extension and medical-grade facilities like two operating theatres, laboratories and clinical consultation spaces.

“It was a fantastic surprise to take out a win at the Gold Coast awards, for a complex project we are proud to have been a part of,” said Rohrig Construction Manager, Ben Dyhrberg.
