Oakhill College, Canteen

Rohrig is proud to have completed a state-of-the-art commercial canteen for Oakhill College in Castle Hill, New South Wales, a design and construct project showcasing end-to-end building capability.

We completed documentation for this project, which was 40% complete when we came on. From there, we finished design and undertook mock-up, renders and fly-through, and complete construction of the standout facility.

The high-end canteen building features a multi-functional design with full commercial kitchen, staff bathroom, eight servery windows and thigh-operated basins.

The modern design makes the canteen perfect to cater both for the school and external events, while blending seamlessly with existing buildings on the campus.

Key features like exposed aggregate pavements, servery windows incorporated into Corian benchtops and the absence of any tracks or dividing features, provide a seamless transition inside and out.

During the mockup phase various changes were made to the floor layout, joinery and glass, along with selecting a suitable roof that matched the Innovation Hub. A more durable benchtop material was also presented, providing improved longevity.

Construction was undertaken in a live school environment, requiring careful management of trades, deliveries and access points, handled expertly by the Rohrig team throughout this project.

Staff and students have enjoyed the new canteen from the beginning of Term 4.
