Rohrig Takes Redlands Sporting Club To New Heights

4 December 2024

We are proud to have recently renovated the Redlands Sporting Club, with the Brisbane Bayside icon unveiling its new ‘Haven’ restaurant in November.

Haven offers patrons an elegant and inviting dining experience, while a new bar and gaming area further enhance the Club’s entertainment offering.

Award-winning architects Cayas + Ward designed the stunning new facility to offer a vibrant and elevated dining and gaming experience for patrons, seamlessly integrated into the existing layout.

The renovation kicked off with the demolition of an under-utilised function room. We then constructed two new bars, an open kitchen, and the Haven restaurant. To achieve a modern and luxurious feel, a range of innovative materials were used including large-scale sheet tiles, engineered stone features and brass accents.

“This project required careful planning and programming to ensure works were undertaken without delay,” said Rohrig Senior Project Manager, Steve Hastie.

“We were involved early on, which made the timeline possible as we worked closely with the client on materials and programme. Not only did we achieve the high-quality finish the client had hoped for, we even saved them a significant amount of money through our strategic material selections.”

The Rohrig team was committed to minimising disruption to patrons and staff throughout works, ensuring the Club remained trading throughout, even going as far as to soundproof the live working environment.

“We actually decided to line the full-height hoarding with acoustic panels for this project, which meant that not only could patrons not see us – they couldn’t hear us either,” Hastie said.

“Many of our hospitality projects are undertaken around live trading environments, so we are constantly finding ways to safely remain out of sight and out of mind.”

Through careful programming, minimal variations and strategic material selection, we were able to complete the renovations in just 21 weeks, handing it over four weeks ahead of schedule – just in time for the Club’s Cup Day tradition!

“One of the key benefits of working directly with Rohrig was the ability to build a strong partnership,

ensuring all stakeholders were well-informed and enabling prompt, effective decision-making,” said Redlands Sporting Club General Manager, Shane Curtis.

“This approach contributed to the success of the project by achieving the intended budget, maximising value, removing risks, and delivering the project on time.”

At Rohrig we believe collaboration creates lasting value, and we remain committed to working with each and every client to bring their hospitality dreams to life.
