Genesis Christian College
This 2-stage Rohrig project was an important part of the school’s masterplan, responding to the growing needs of the Bray Park community for new junior school facilities.
Early in the process, we helped the school compare the costs and benefits of a complete demolition and rebuild versus a renovation within the existing structure.
Working with initial designs by McLellan Bush Architects and collaborating closely with the school, we worked closely with all stakeholders to deliver a great outcome.
After demolishing two previous classroom buildings, we created a new building with flexible learning spaces, staffrooms, offices, storage areas and a kitchenette. The building featured traditional timber trusses and brick with a timber-look ceiling that both saved costs and reduced noise.
The position of the school site in a congested area called for tight management of drop-off zones to ensure school and community safety. There were also site and access restrictions with a kindergarten adjoining the site.
The project was completed ahead of schedule and is a bright, inspiring space for the young students.
