Forest Hotel & Dan Murphy’s
Rohrig transformed a popular Northern Beaches tavern into the newly rebranded Forest Hotel and Dan Murphy’s, which is attracting new patrons to the area. It involved demolishing large portions of a previous pub and BWS, major upgrades to the structural elements, creating a new tavern and a stand-alone 1400m2 Dan Murphy’s bottle shop.
The tavern works included a new sports bar, new kitchen, bistro, bistro bar, gaming bar, open-air gaming area, function space, children’s play area, bar, external beer garden and a full external facelift. The design by architects, Cayas, featured a sculptform wall, multiple feature ceilings and curved-ply dry bars. Each space has a unique look and feel.
Rohrig’s technical expertise on remediation works and our value engineering contributed to the project’s success. We were also able to suggest a number of design and material modifications, such as stone tiles instead of solid stone slabs on walls, which avoided major fixing and safety risks as well as being a more economical approach to the same design intent.
Our staging allowed for the client to bump in and begin fit-out before handover. Despite the extensive remediation challenges revealed by the demolition, the project was finished and delivered on time, ready for the Christmas trading period.
