The Brook Hotel takes out prestigious QHA Award

7 August 2024

The Brook Hotel was crowned ‘Best Redeveloped Hotel – Accommodation Division’ at this year’s Queensland Hotels Association (QHA) Awards for Excellence, which is a standout hotel we are proud to have built for our valued client, ALH Hotels.

More than 1,500 industry guests attended the prestigious awards ceremony held at the Brisbane Exhibition Centre earlier this month, to celebrate Queensland’s best hotels – with categories for entertainment, gaming, accommodation and dining.

The Brook Hotel ushers in a new era for Brisbane’s pub scene, with an unprecedented open-plan dining and entertainment experience, the adjacent Nightcap Plus hotel, and of course a similarly styled Dan Murphy’s store, forming an exciting lifestyle precinct.

This 25,000m2 project was no small undertaking, but one perfectly suited to our extensive hospitality experience. We also have a long history of successful projects with ALH Hotels, so it was a perfect match as we transformed the local Michelton watering hole into a world-class hotel.

We were thrilled to hear event hosts, Pat Welsh and Sofie Formica, alongside QHA President Richard Deery, announce that The Brook Hotel had won the coveted prize on the night. We love seeing our clients celebrated!

“To see this ALH Hotels project, acknowledged at the QHA Awards is a huge privilege and the team was overjoyed to see the hard work that went into The Brook Hotel celebrated by industry,” Rohrig Construction Manager, Matthew Tucker said.

“We have a longstanding relationship with ALH, with so many success stories, but the combination of the pub and Nightcap Plus hotel really sets this project apart. It was a huge undertaking, so this award really means a lot to us.”

QHA President, Richard Deery highlighted that Queensland’s many pubs and hotels are among the best in the world, made possible by the architects, builders, publicans that bring them to life.

“Queensland hotels are so much more. They are a part of our social fabric, a constant in a world of change, and a real-world place for connection in increasingly online-focused and isolated communities,” Mr Deery said on the night.

“Our industry and its hard-working people have never been more appreciated by the communities we serve, and we all should be proud of that – my congratulations to all finalists, particularly the winners.”

At last year’s awards, the Jubilee Hotel won a Queensland Hotels Association (QHA) Award, for Excellence in the Best Redeveloped Hotel – General Division. It is an honour to again be recognised for our work within the hospitality industry.

We would like to thank our client ALH Hotels, Endeavour Group, architects Cayas + Ward, and other partners that brought us in and made this project possible.
