TKD and Ironman Gympie
Rohrig recently undertook a major design and construct project at a greenfield site in Gympie, Queensland, creating a retail facility and fit out for both Tool Kit Depot (TKD) and Ironman Stores.
This complex project involved two back-to-back builds on a single site, encompassing the design, base build and fit out for the TKD and Ironman Stores.
The design phase of this project was undertaken in-house, by the Rohrig Team, involving the design of a three tenancy retail precinct. Thanks to our flexible design capabilities, we were able to later adapt the precinct to include two tenancies, by combining two smaller facilities. Our design team even designed the marketing material and mockups to assist the client secure a tenant.
Prior to construction we had to excavate a large amount of rock to ensure a stable foundation, as well as contending with the worst flood in 120 years for the Gympie region. We commenced with the base build and shop fit-out for Ironman, and later converted the other two tenancies into one large space after TKD were secured as a tenant.
Both sheds feature internal amenities, mezzanines, internal retail store fit outs and the Ironman store also received a functioning workshop with three hydraulic hoists. The end result on the large commercial site is 2200sqm of internal space, 3200sqm of external hardstand, and 70 carpark spaces for the growing Gympie region.
This project was a complex undertaking, involving multiple clients and sites, but our Design and Construct capabilities were once again able to shine.
