The Manly Hotel
Rohrig is proud to have completed the refurbishment of the popular Manly Hotel, rejuvenating the iconic venue that has served as a local favourite since first opening the doors in 1960.
This project was completed across two stages, consisting of an extension and refurbishment with staged handovers to ensure uninterrupted trading across the 11-month construction period.
Design was undertaken by Cayas + Ward Architects, offering patrons a light-filled courtyard, stylish restaurant and sweeping terrace bar with earthy features like stone floors, brick facade and timber utilised throughout.
We undertook this project for ALH Hotels, a long term client of ours, with recent projects like the Brook Hotel, Gap Tavern and Camp Hill Hotel also completed for them.
Stage one involved an extension of the gaming room and amenities, while establishing a temporary gaming room to ensure no loss of trading for the client.
For stage two we refurbished the main bar and bistro, completely overhauling the areas with a breezeway bar and modern dining area. We also refreshed the main bar, demolishing a suspended slab over the existing bar to create a pop-up roof – allowing a double-height ceiling with skylights.
A mix of stone, timber and brick was used for the feature elements of the Manly Hotel, with an intricate curved brick facade, stone floors and lashings of timber throughout the refurbished areas. LED lights highlight the brick facade, while skylights within the pop-up roof flood the Hotel with stunning natural light.
We worked carefully to ensure patrons were not interrupted throughout this project, with careful staging and staggered handovers, allowing the Manly Hotel to thrive. Handover was free of defects, as we presented this stunning project to the client.
