St Luke’s Grammar School, Dee Why

The 3-storey building at St Luke’s Grammar School had previously been designed as general learning areas. Rohrig was appointed to undertake the complete reconfiguration and refurbishment of these areas to create a science and technology centre with science laboratories and food technology rooms. The pedestrian link building and the amenities were also part of the renovation.

The design by Tonkin Zulaikha Greer architects created a contemporary space to reflect the school’s learning priorities and methods.

The project had particular challenges as the site is landlocked between other school buildings, requiring delivery of materials through the school. Rohrig planned this carefully with the school to avoid busy times, manage traffic control and ensure student safety.

Despite the site constraints, we completed the science and technology centre on time to a tight schedule.
