Big Strides at William Clarke College: Bryson Building Nears Completion

Exciting things are happening at William Clarke College, where the new Bryson Building is really starting to take shape. This four-storey teaching and learning facility is being delivered in partnership with PMDL Architecture + Design and MostynCopper, and it’s set to become a central hub for students and staff alike.

The building will bring together a mix of spaces designed to support learning, collaboration, and community. It includes libraries for both Primary and Secondary students, a dedicated area for Stage 3 learners, flexible classrooms, a large multi-purpose hall, staff common rooms, faculty offices, and even a café and canteen. There’s also a covered outdoor learning area that will give students more room to connect and learn in fresh air.

On site, the structure has now topped out, and the roof steelwork is complete. Façade cladding and glazing are coming along well, and inside, things are moving quickly—wall linings, painting, ceilings, and services rough-ins are underway across the lower levels. Joinery and internal glazing have commenced on all levels, the lift is being installed, waterproofing is progressing, and internal ceiling grids and operable wall tracks are in place.

The Bryson Building is being delivered to a 5 Star Green Star equivalent, with features like low-carbon concrete, recycled steel, and a post-tensioned structure that reduces the amount of concrete needed. More than 90% of construction waste is being recycled, and a Zero Carbon Action Plan will make sure the building stays climate positive throughout its life. Indigenous, climate-resilient plants will also be used in the landscaping to support biodiversity.

With everything on track, the Bryson Building is shaping up to be a standout addition to the College. It’s a great example of how thoughtful design and sustainable construction can come together to create something truly special.
