Broadbeach Bowls Club
Rohrig recently undertook a major refurbishment at the picturesque Broadbeach Bowls Club on the Gold Coast, expanding and modernising the thriving beachside venue.
The Broadbeach Bowls Club kicked off back in 1954 and has served the growing region ever since, famed for its views of both the ocean and nearby CBD, but nearly 75 years since opening its doors it was due for an overhaul.
David Raby Architects redesigned the venue, overhauling the gaming room, main foyer, performance centre, sports lounge and designated outdoor smoking areas with an inviting design that breathes new light into the longstanding club.
We undertook this project across two stages, first completing a refurbishment of the large gaming room, reception and foyer, as well as updating outdoor facilities. We then overhauled the TAB lounge and sports lounge areas.
The finished project offers an inviting, light-filled venue that features premium features like curved timber walls and recessed lights.
The Rohrig team was involved in the early contractor involvement process for this project, developing the cost planning and services design, helping to offer the client a competitive result that fit within their budget.
We also undertook this project in a live operating environment, but through careful staging the team was able to minimise disruptions to trading. In order to ensure the venue could remain fully operational, we split the project into multiple stages, as well as assisting with a temporary gaming room, and this allowed us to complete the project in just 12 weeks.
