Refurbishment of iconic beer garden and bar

Part of the legendary Surfers Paradise Hotel, which originally opened in 1925, the Beer Garden is known and loved by tourists and locals alike for its relaxed, holiday vibe. When Rohrig took on this project, the venue had been loved almost to death and was showing signs of its age.

A new, nostalgia-inspired design by Cayas Architects, and construction with the Rohrig touch brought it back to life and re-established its iconic status.

The beer garden’s position on Cavill Mall, a busy pedestrian precinct, created extra challenges with mall closures needed to carry out demolition and crane lifts. Extensive new decking and feature joinery also made this a very distinctive renovation for a Gold Coast landmark.
