Renovation of inaccessible heritage pub

The 100-year-old pub is one of the original pubs on the Lower North Shore and has been owned for generations by the same family. This renovation needed to respect the pub’s history, the owners’ needs and community expectations. It also had significant access challenges, being in the middle of Chatswood, next door to a bus-way.

Rohrig’s design teamed sourced a variety of different design options from different subcontractors for the owners to choose from before completely recreating the kitchen, bistro, gaming room and sports bar. We also gave different options for managing the project around continuing trade.

Access challenges included having to close the bus-way at one point so a crane could lift materials to the roof.
