Ipswich Tower Central

Part demolition and refurbishment of offices and retail space

The Tower Central project restored and redeveloped a 100-year-old post office and pharmacy building and created a linked six-storey office tower. The complex offers 1300m2 of retail space, 3000m2 of quality office space and features an integrated shopping and café precinct.

Any project that involves the restoration of a historic building always presents special challenges. In this case, we needed to support the existing structure, which was built over a basement, while creating a new entrance and while undertaking deep basement excavation for car parking.

Our innovative techniques ensured the heritage building structure remained fully protected while the contemporary facilities were developed. The building project was completed ahead of time through the collaborative approach of all project stakeholders.

“This is the third project we have done with Rohrig and quite frankly we would not use anyone else for our project delivery. Right from the outset they were on board coordinating the design, making recommendations on buildability issues and managing the budget. They are easy to get on with, very transparent in everything they do, highly professional and delivered a project which represents outstanding value and quality.”
