Canterbury College, Sports Precinct
As well as extending the potential for students, the new Sport precinct created an additional revenue stream for Canterbury College through hiring out the facilities to the general public and other community groups.
The project included an 8-lane, 50-metre swimming pool, a learn to swim pool, eight tennis courts, grandstand, amenities block and pump room on an unused 95,000 m2 site.
The new precinct was positioned at the rear of the college campus on the back side of the existing sporting fields. In order to minimise student interaction Rohrig utilised an existing ring road and created a new access point which allowed for continuous construction activity.
Given the nature of the project and the hands on approach taken by the college Rohrig were responsible for managing a number of key client side subcontractors. Our extensive experience in delivering complex projects like this allowed our team to deliver a great outcome for the school on time and under budget.
