Sustainability-focused Bryson Building takes shape at William Clarke College

10 June 2025

Rohrig is currently constructing the cutting-edge Bryson Building at William Clarke College in Kellyville. The New South Wales state significant development, which is named after the college’s founding Headmaster Philip Bryson, showcases the latest in environmentally-sustainable design and construction.

The four-storey Bryson Building is designed to be a central hub for students and educators, located within the heart of the independent Prep to Year 12 college. It will house the Primary and Secondary libraries, provide a new dedicated home for Stage 3 students, and include numerous flexible learning areas, a large multi-purpose hall, staff common areas and faculty spaces, a canteen, café, amenities, and a large covered outdoor learning area.

We have worked closely with project manager MostynCopper and architect PMDL Architecture & Design, and we are excited to progress towards the second half of this innovative build.

The building incorporates a strong focus on environmental sustainability, designed to the equivalent of 4-star Green Star standards having undergone lifecycle analysis, energy modelling, and upfront carbon modelling. Sustainable materials are being used throughout, including recycled steel reinforcement and lower carbon concrete, while more than 90 percent of construction waste will be recycled.

Rohrig has previously completed the award-winning Branwhite Centre (STEAM building) and the Primary Infill Building for William Clarke College, making the Bryson Building a natural extension of our work with the educator.

Currently, the project is in the structural phase, with the third storey completed and the fourth being formed as we speak. A 48-metre high tower crane, with a 76-metre jib, sits onsite to undertake upper-level works and we expect the structural elements to be completed in the coming months.

As part of our commitment to the next generation, Rohrig recently hosted six Year 10 students for a week of work experience on-site, providing them with a real-world look at what a career in construction can offer.

“This project is one we are excited to be involved with, because it really sets a new sustainability standard at William Clarke College,” said Rohrig Senior Project Manager, Brad Blanshard.

“Being able to show a group of Year 10 students around the worksite, giving them a closer look at what a career in construction looks like day-to-day, has been gratifying. A cutting-edge project like this offers the perfect introduction to the industry, so we hope the students walk away as inspired as we are.”

The Rohrig team is proud to continue its partnership with William Clarke College, delivering facilities that support their future vision while ensuring the next generation is given the best possible chance at success.
