Rohrig and Al-Faisal College build a brighter future

5 February 2025

Al-Faisal College in Liverpool, Sydney, is undergoing a major transformation, and the Rohrig team is excited to share an update on this exciting project as it reaches the half-way mark.

Al-Faisal College, established in 1998, is an independent Kindergarten to Year 12 school with campuses in Auburn, Campbelltown, and most recently, Liverpool. The Liverpool campus, founded in 2015, has experienced rapid growth, requiring enhanced facilities. To address this, the College developed a Master Plan outlining staged upgrades to overhaul and expand facilities over the next 20 years.

Rohrig is proud to be constructing Stage 3 of this Master Plan – a state-of-the-art, two-storey building that will house the College’s new Kindergarten. Designed by PMDL Architecture and Design, this inspiring learning space will feature innovative classrooms, a tiered seating area, staff facilities, and modern amenities, ready for the school’s youngest students by mid-2025.

We encountered challenging ground conditions in the early stages of this project, which we rectified in collaboration with the school and architect. This allowed us to progress with the substructure, which involved installing 1,900 linear meters of bored piers.

In August, we poured the first slab which coincided with a sod-turning ceremony attended by representatives from Al-Faisal College, PMDL Architecture and Design, and esteemed guests Nathan Hagarty, Member for Leppington, and Ned Mannoun, Mayor of Liverpool City Council.

The Rohrig team assisted with the event, offering speeches and a tour, while also working behind the scenes to ensure more than 200 cubic metres of concrete was poured without a hitch on the day. The first pour made up 40 percent of the ground floor slab, which forms the foundation for the Al-Faisal College Kindergarten.

“The sod-turning ceremony saw around 40 guests join us, both to break ground and to pour the first slab for the new Kindergarten building,” said Rohrig Project Manager, Kyle Da Silva.

“Pouring the slab on the same day was a challenge, but one we were eager to pull off. It’s another day in the office for the talented Rohrig team!”

Our team recently completed the second-floor and final roof pours, marking the completion of the main structural works for this project. We will then commence the internal fit-out, landscaping and facade works, as we fast-approach the mid-2025 completion date.

Rohrig has also been awarded Stage 4 of the College’s upgrade plan, which will form a new educational hub for Year 3 and 4 students, with the first slab set to be poured in February. The Stage 4 project will run throughout 2025 and is set to be completed before year’s end. We can’t wait to share more details with you once we commence the next exciting stage of the Al-Faisal College Master Plan.
