After two years of planning, and more than ten months of construction, the major expansion of the Brothers Leagues Club is complete.
The project has added more than 900sqm of additional floor area to the club. Designed by Brand and Slater Architects, the new facilities include a spectacular and spacious 248 machine gaming floor, a new bistro and kitchen, and a new bar precinct. The two newly renovated bars both include alfresco seating options.
Prior to construction, 10 Brothers board members and 5 staff members, including General Manager Brad Morgan, attended a design pre-alignment session in Rohrig’s warehouse. Rohrig created life-size polystyrene models of the bars for the team to walk-through the design and check the functionality of all key service areas.
Rohrig’s life-size prototypes bring a design to life in a way that drawings and small-scale models aspire to do. The process enables complete transparency, eliminates any guesswork and ensures a project can be completed without any unforeseen surprises. Any potential issues can be ironed out and adjustments made early in the process, avoiding construction delays and expensive changes further down the line.
This was the second time Rohrig have facilitated this process of design due diligence for Brothers. A decade prior, we provided the same service to test drive their ‘O’ Bar. Each time the process has uncovered value opportunities and cost savings for the club.
With the club remaining fully operational during the 41-week construction program, Rohrig planned the works in a way to minimise disruption for the club's 24,000 members. As part of this, the program was split into nine stages, and post-Christmas, the site was run 19 hours a day to achieve an early handover.
Brother’s Leagues is one of Ipswich's biggest clubs. It has always prided itself on providing members with facilities that are second to none. With this expansion project, the club now has the scope to cater for the growth of Ipswich and ensure they can service the needs of their members with fresh and modern facilities well into the future.
