Rohrig was recently announced the winner of ‘The Best Educational Facility over $10 million’ in the Brisbane Region Master Builders Awards for the Anglican Church Grammar School (Churchie) Centenary Library building. We are now a strong contender for the equivalent Queensland award, which will be announced in October.
The project completed for Churchie supports a new teaching model where innovation and collaboration are key. It created a learning environment where collaboration and the confluence of ideas are fostered to improve learning outcomes and prepare students for a world where transcending separate disciplines and innovation will be more important than ever.
The project works included six classrooms, ten small group/study rooms, two covered outdoor learning environments, two video conference rooms, four meeting rooms, over 80 individual/small group learning places, a 250-seat lecture theatre and a café.
The 26.35m tall 4-storey building is now the academic heart of the school, providing a technology-rich, world-class centre to assist the students reach their full learning potential. It is full of dynamic, collaborative and open spaces, facilitating a culture of innovation, creativity and learning.
The collaborative and cooperative approach to construction by the school and consulting teams was the key ingredient to the success of the project. It enabled all stakeholders to work together to overcome any problems encountered during the planning and delivery phases. The commitment of all subcontractors and suppliers to high-quality construction was also evident and provided a phenomenal outcome for all.

Of note, Rohrig is now in the midst of constructing new learning environments at St Joseph’s College Gregory Terrace and also Ormiston College. Both projects will deliver a significant upgrade to the respective school’s facilities.
